FAQ

Questions about Kortex

Kortex is an AI ad agent for Meta Ads and Google Ads that checks your accounts every day and proposes fixes a person approves; these are the questions people ask about it, grouped by topic.

Free during early access. We open access by hand.

Kortex

  • What does the free audit check?

It puts 20 questions your customers ask to ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, reads Google's page one and AI Overview for your searches, and checks your site. You see where you are named, who is named instead, the pages the answers cite, and four fixes written for you.

  • Is it really free?

Yes. One full audit per website, with the report and the written fixes, and no card. Chatting with Kortex and running new checks use credits, and every account starts with 50 free.

  • How long does it take?

About four minutes. You can leave the page: we email you the link when your report is ready.

  • What are the fixes it writes?

An article that answers the question you are missing most, an FAQ for your site, an llms.txt file, and structured data, ready to copy onto your website.

  • Does Kortex change my website?

No. It writes the fixes for you to review. If you connect your WordPress blog, Kortex can put a post there as a draft for you to publish, and only goes live when you say so.

  • Who is it for?

Any company whose customers ask AI for recommendations: online stores, software, apps and services. If people ask ChatGPT what to buy or who to hire in your space, the audit shows whether you are in the answer.

  • Does Kortex do ads too?

Yes. The same agent reads your competitors' Facebook and Instagram ads, watches them every day, and makes new image ads from your own products in your look, ready for Ads Manager. Kortex's agent for running Meta and Google ad accounts is in early access: see the Meta Ads page to ask for it.

Meta Ads

  • Does Kortex work with both Facebook and Instagram ads?

Yes. Facebook and Instagram ads both run through Meta Ads, and Kortex reads and changes them through the same Meta connection.

  • Will Kortex change my Meta ads without asking?

No. Every change is proposed first, and a person on your team approves it before Kortex makes it. Proposals nobody approves expire, and anything new Kortex creates in Meta starts paused.

  • How often does Kortex check my Meta Ads account?

Every day. Each day's findings arrive as a short list, each with a proposed fix and the numbers behind it.

  • Do I need to change how my campaigns are set up?

No. Kortex works with the campaigns you already run and proposes changes to them.

Budget reallocation

  • Will Kortex move my budget without asking?

No. Every budget change is a proposal until a person on your team approves it.

  • Does Kortex only cut budgets?

No. It also proposes raising the budget on ads and ad sets that beat your account's ROAS but are held back by their budget.

  • How does Kortex judge whether a budget change worked?

Each change is judged on its ROAS over the following one to two weeks, and later proposals learn from the result.

Creative fatigue

  • What frequency is too high for a Meta ad?

There is no single number. What matters is the trend: frequency rising while click-through falls means people are tiring of the ad.

  • Does Kortex pause fatigued ads automatically?

No. It proposes the pause with the numbers behind it, and a person on your team approves it.

  • Can Kortex make replacement ads?

Yes. Kortex can make image ads from your products in your colours and type, and launches them paused for review.

Placements and audiences

  • Should I turn off Audience Network?

Only if your own numbers say so. Kortex compares it with other placements in the same ad set and proposes a change only when the gap is clear.

  • Does Kortex change my targeting without asking?

No. Placement and audience changes are proposals until a person on your team approves them.

  • Why test an audience as a copy of the ad set?

So the original keeps running unchanged and the result of the test is clean.

Approvals and guardrails

  • Who on my team can approve changes?

A person on your team approves each change in the chat or in the queue before Kortex makes it.

  • What happens if nobody approves a proposal?

It expires. Kortex does not make changes that nobody approved.

  • Can Kortex double my budget overnight?

Only if you approve it, and a single change can at most double or halve a budget.

Ad creation

  • Does Kortex make video ads?

    Kortex makes image ads today.

  • Will the ads use my brand's colours and fonts?

Yes. Kortex makes the ads in your colours and type, from your products.

  • Are Kortex-made ads published automatically?

No. They launch paused in your Meta ad account, and a person switches them on.

Pricing and access

  • Is the audit really free?

Yes. One full audit per website, with the report and the written fixes, and no card.

  • How much is the Growth plan?

$50 a month, or ₹4,999 a month in India, with a monthly usage allowance that resets each month and top-ups whenever you need more.

  • Does Kortex take a percentage of my ad spend?

No. Kortex charges nothing on your ad spend.

Security and access

  • Does Kortex need my Facebook or Google password?

No. You connect through Meta's and Google's own sign-in screens, and Kortex never sees your password.

  • Can Kortex spend more money than I approve?

Kortex only makes changes a person approved, and a single budget change can at most double or halve the budget.

  • How do I delete my data?

Follow the steps on the Kortex data deletion page at kortexagent.co/data-deletion, or email human@kortexagent.co.

Yes. Revealbot renamed itself Bïrch in 2024.

  • Do I need to write rules in Kortex?

No. Kortex reads your accounts every day and proposes changes; you approve the ones that make sense.

  • Can Kortex make changes without me, like a rule can?

No. Every Kortex change is approved by a person first, by design.

Kortex vs Smartly

  • Is Kortex a Smartly alternative for smaller teams?

Kortex is built for performance marketers, D2C businesses and agencies who want daily ROAS checks with approved changes on Meta and Google Ads. Smartly targets large enterprise teams.

  • Do I need a sales call to start with Kortex?

No. Leave your work email and we email you when your access is ready.

  • Which channels does Kortex cover?

Meta Ads, covering Facebook and Instagram, and Google Ads. Shopify, TikTok Ads and ChatGPT Ads are coming soon.

Kortex vs a media buyer

  • Is Kortex cheaper than hiring a media buyer?

Kortex is free during early access. It is meant to work alongside a media buyer, not instead of one.

  • Do I need a media buyer to use Kortex?

No. Anyone who runs your ads can approve Kortex's proposals. Kortex explains each one with the numbers behind it.

  • Is Kortex built for agencies?

Agencies are one of the audiences Kortex is built for, alongside performance marketers and D2C businesses. Email human@kortexagent.co to talk about client accounts.

Ad terms

  • What is a good ROAS?

It depends on your margins. A business with high margins can be profitable at a lower ROAS than one with thin margins, so work out the ROAS at which you break even first.

  • What is the difference between ROAS and MER?

ROAS measures the revenue an ad platform attributes to its ads against what you spent there. MER divides your total revenue by your total marketing spend, with no attribution involved.

  • Why did my ad set go back into the learning phase?

Significant edits, such as large budget changes or new targeting, can restart the learning phase. Smaller, less frequent changes help an ad set stay out of it.

Why your Meta ROAS dropped: a checklist

  • Why did my Meta ROAS drop suddenly overnight?

A sudden overnight drop is most often tracking, the delay before recent conversions are reported, or a change made the day before. Check those before changing anything else.

  • Should I pause a campaign as soon as ROAS drops?

Not straight away. Find the cause first. Pausing and restarting ad sets can send them back into the learning phase, and the cause may be tracking or the season rather than the campaign.

  • How long should I wait before judging a change in Meta Ads?

Give it at least several days, since conversions keep arriving after the click and edited ad sets may relearn. Kortex judges each change on its ROAS over the following one to two weeks.

  • Does Diwali affect Meta ad costs in India?

Often, yes. More advertisers compete for the same audiences around Diwali and big sale events, which tends to push CPM up and can lower ROAS even when your ads are unchanged.

Start each day with the fixes, not the dashboard.
